The United States men’s national team wrapped up a World Cup berth last month, but U.S. soccer demanded a little recognition Tuesday after playing savior and reviving its rival.
Mexico’s World Cup chances appeared to be dashed as Costa Rica surged to a 2-1 lead and Panama boasted the same advantage over the USMNT in stoppage time.
That is, until Graham Zusi played hero with a goal 1:24 into the final three minutes.
Less than a minute later, Aron Johannsson added a goal for the 3-2 win. The call of both goals was just as great as you’d expect
Afterward, the USMNT’s official Twitter feed took a bow.
