'Straight-only' sorority proposal stirs up Smith College (USA News)

Delta Gamma authorities don't know who composed the now-viral message proposing an all-straight "sorority" at Smith College in Northampton, Mass., however they say its surely not event.

In the message — which was initially posted and later evacuated on Tumblr by an alternate Smith person reputed to be "aquieterrioter" — the unidentified creator welcomed her schoolmates to help her make an "elite" part of Delta Gamma for "straight young ladies" with arranged exercises, for example "sorority blenders with Amherst men, week after week supper dates, week after week photograph shoots where we might spruce up fantastic [and] preparing nights."

The self-distinguishing hetero person composed in the message that she felt "underestimated" at the ladies' school of 2,600 and that the straight-just sorority could be a "truly extraordinary approach to standardize with individuals we recognize increasingly with at Smith."

The message rapidly circulated around the web, making the rounds on Buzzfeed, Tumblr and Slate, around others.

Various Smith scholars took to Twitter to voice their affections on the point.

"As a straight smithie I have NEVER felt underestimated by the strange neighborhood," @jnims composed Sept 17. "I can't comprehend how you see it as a wellspring of persecution. Being straight isn't a trouble, not at smith, anywhere."
Open clamor was strong to the point that the Smith College person who released the message uprooted the first ever post, apologizing for the ensuing "witchhunt" against the creator.

Anticipates the all-straight sorority was a surprising bit of information to Delta Gamma's Mary Ellen Hardies, the national section's chief of correspondence, who told USA TODAY Delta Gamma first caught wind of the Smith scholar's message from a Google news alarm.
