MEXICO CITY (AP) — After a humiliating home misfortune against Honduras at Estadio Azteca, Jose Manuel "Chepo" De la Torre has been let go as the chief of Mexico and will be supplanted by Luis Fernando Tena, the mentor who headed Mexico to an Olympic gold award.
Mexico, which has been battling in World Cup capability with Chepo as mentor, lost 2-1 against Honduras on Friday night. It was just their second misfortune at home in the history in World Cup qualifying matches played at Azteca and the first since June of 2001 when Costa Rica beat El Tri in an amusement recollected as the "Aztecazo."
Mexico prior tied 0-0 at Azteca with the United States.
