Man loses hands in explosion in Boston apartment (USA News)

A man lost both of his hands and four other individuals were harmed in an eruption Friday morning at a southern Boston residence building, Boston police said.

Police representative Neva Coakley said the way of the eruption at the building in the Hyde Park neighborhood wasn't promptly clear. On the other hand, Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis told The Boston Globe that the man who lost his hands had been blending chemicals in his root cellar pad, and that the chemicals blasted.

Two individuals, incorporating the man who lost his hands, were taken to a doctor's facility, and three others were treated at the site in the Hyde Park neighborhood for unspecified wounds, Boston police said.

Davis said the man blending the chemicals may have been exploring different avenues regarding firecrackers, and agents didn't promptly know why the chemicals blasted, as per the Globe.

The episode had "no association with terrorism," Davis told CNN partner WCVB.

"He let us know he was testing," Davis said, consistent with the station.

Firefighters were called to the four-story loft building at 15 Riley Road not long after 9 a.m. They rapidly put out a fiery breakout in the storm cellar, fire office representative Steve Macdonald said.

A guest reported listening to blasts and seeing smoke hailing from the building, WCVB reported, refering to police.

Macdonald said Friday morning that specialists were looking at conceivably dangerous chemicals at the scene. However the site, which had been cordoned off throughout the introductory test, was esteemed sheltered by Friday evening, Coakley said.
