L.A.-area police officer shot, second injured (USA News)

An Inglewood, Calif., police officer has been shot and a second has suffered a non-shooting injury after an altercation with a shooter now holding two people hostage in a home, various news outlets are reporting.
One of the hostages might be a 14-year-old girl, some news organizations are reporting.
The shootings took place Wednesday afternoon.
Police responded to a call about a domestic situation in which a man may have been beating a girl, and when police arrived, the man grabbed the girl and took her inside, KABC reports. The second hostage might be a woman, according to KABC.
The man has telephoned police but when they try to negotiate with him, he hangs up, KABC reports.
Centinela Hospital Medical Center confirmed the officers were taken there, but was not able to give any more information because of privacy laws.
One officer was shot in the chest area, but his buller-proof vest saved him, police told KABC. He has been transported to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. The second officer was treated and released, KABC reports.
The officer who was shot was expected to survive and the related injury suffered by a female officer was minor, KTLA reported it was told by police Capt. James Madia.
Authorities are asking residents to stay indoors, KTLA is reporting.
Dozens of police cars lined local streets and an armored SWAT vehicle could be seen, according to KTLA.
"I just can't believe it," neighborhood resident Kimberly Edwards told KTLA. "We're working people and we're not used to this kind of thing."
